DJING

The DJ is the heartbeat of Hip Hop and the spark of creativity in our classrooms.

GRAFFITI

The Graf is the visual voice of Hip-Hop and a canvas for student creativity.

EMCEEING

The MC is the voice of Hip-Hop and the language of our learners.

KNOWLEDGE

The Knowledge is the soul of Hip-Hop and the foundation of our educational program.


B-BOYING

The B-Boy is the movement of Hip-Hop and the energy in our classrooms.

How do we teach with the 5 components of Hip-Hop?

***DIGITAL DJ LAB***

This hands-on experience fosters creativity, technical skills, and early confidence in music and technology—highlighting the power of engaging, age-appropriate instruction.

LOOPING

Repeating a section of a track endlessly.

SCRATCHING

Manipulating a turntable to create a rhythmic sound.

BLENDING

Creating a continuous flow of music without interruptions.

MIXING

Taking two tracks and playing them together to sound like one song. 

Meet Lucas

During a sleepaway camp session, Mr. Kivel introduced a 7-year-old student to the fundamentals of digital music production. Using the Pioneer DDJ-SB2 performance board and Serato software on an Apple laptop, he selected his own music and successfully created a continuous beat loop. 

***EMCEE BAR ACADEMY***

With support from our dedicated staff, students find their voice—selecting a theme, building vocabulary, crafting lyrics, and practicing performance techniques. This process fosters creativity, collaboration, and confidence in every learner.

Meet The Young Masters

The Young Masters are rehearsing Quickhitters Winners, an original track developed through our Quick 5-Step structure. Their dedication, creativity, and the infectious energy they bring to this project showcase the joy of learning and the power of teamwork in action.

***The Next Move Crew***

Breakdancing, or the art of movement, empowers students to express themselves physically while building discipline, confidence, and creativity. We’re expanding this vital part of our program in partnership with skilled B-boys who’ve already engaged and inspired our high school students. We look forward to growing this offering even further—stay tuned!

Mr. Kivel Jones 

CEO

Mr. Kivel has dedicated 30 years to youth development in New York City. He is the creator of The Quickhitters Experience initially offering the hip hop themed class to middle school students in 2015. Since then, he has worked with The Jewish Community Coalition of Greater New York, Girls Inc and The Boys Club of New York to create hip hop themed projects which target youth ages 10 to 21. 

Ms. Rasheedah Garcia 

Executive Director

Ms. Garcia is a M.S.E.D., 7-12 ELA Professionally Certified teacher and former youth development program director. Since 2016, Ms. Garcia has overseen the comprehensive academic programming, organizational structure that ensures the academic skill reinforcements for our participants. 

Mr. Kwesi Haynes 

Director of Communications

Kwesi Haynes brings over 15 years of experience leading youth programs across New York City. As one of the founders of  The Quickhitters Experience and other initiatives that empower underrepresented youth, Kwesi is committed to creating opportunities that inspire growth, self-expression, and success. Whether through education, mentorship, or dynamic event spaces, his mission is to build platforms where potential is realized and communities thrive.
